Bethlehem Center for Children
INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS ARE WELCOME!
“I stayed with a host family while I was volunteering at the orphanage. It’s a great way to immerse oneself in the culture while at the same time supporting the local family. My family was very kind to me and accommodated me very graciously. They provided a clean room and plenty of delicious Tanzanian food. They even (tried…) to teach me how to make Ugali, the local maize dish.” eap947@gmail.com

“ Bethlehem Center is a very special place which fosters a positive future for the children in a nurturing environment. Mama Munisi sees that each child receives love, affection, food and education – opportunities they would not have been afforded in their former living situations. Bethlehem Center is currently in a very small space, but with further funding it would be able to re-locate to a larger plot which will house many more children and also give them a safe place to play. The children of Bethlehem are vibrant and generous with their love.” Polly Rice

The help of international volunteers is greatly needed and appreciated! We will arrange everything for volunteers who will come direct and the charges will be minimal. We welcome individuals, families, couples and students.
As a volunteer in the orphanage, you will be involved in teaching English and other subjects as well as helping the children with their homework. You will also help the orphans to understand the importance of hygiene, sanitation and good manners. We also do creative activities like drawing, painting, games, maintaining the orphanage building and compound.
“I have been working at Bethlehem for 3 weeks now and I look forward to going to work everyday. The children are so full of life and love. I love playing games with them everyday. The mama of the orphanage is an amazing woman who does so much for these children. I love being here and look forward to the many months I have left.” courtneystebner@hotmail.com
